About THE FUTURE FORUM

Engage with your fellow colleagues as we explore Calgary’s current path to diversifying its robust economy. Consistently ranked as one of the best places in the world to live, Calgary boasts the highest GDP per capita of major Canadian cities, highest labor force participation, and highest average earnings. The city’s solid economic foundations are setting the stage for the creation of a community of lifelong learning and resilient people with skills needed to adapt to an ever-changing economy.

The theme for IEDC's 2023 Future Forum: Communities in Transition will focus on pursuing economic diversification and opportunity through the lens of economic transformation. Talent, Innovation, and Livability must work together and be interwoven with IDEA, collective action, and shared perspectives, to achieve long-term economic prosperity for all.

Mayor, Calgary, Alberta

"On behalf of the City of Calgary, welcome to Treaty 7 territory in the foothills of the Canadian Rocky Mountains.

We are honoured to host critical conversations about building a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable future together at the 2023 IEDC Economic Future Forum.

The theme of this year’s conference, Communities in Transition, was built on the economic strategy designed to support Calgary’s transition from an energy-dependent economy to a digital economy."
